10 Days of Prayer Northfield, 2008. A Special Invitation to Pastors and Christian Leaders “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ec. 3:1 Dear Pastors and Leaders, Blessings to you: First of all, we honor you and thank God for your ministry in the Body of Christ. The Church of God has been blessed and built up by your service. It is a well attested fact that leaders in the church are extremely busy. We agree that there is much work to be done to advance the Kingdom of God in New England. However, we must listen to what the Spirit says: “In repentance and rest you shall be saved/In quietness and trust is your strength.” (Is. 30:15 NASB) We are inviting you to join us and devote ten days to rest and quietness before the Lord. There are no speakers and no agenda—simply an atmosphere of prayer and peace where you can rest beside still waters and have your strength restored by the Comforter. We recognize that ten days represents a substantial sacrifice of time. However, we are convinced that this is a particular call from God for this time. We are also convinced that this sacrifice of time for prayer and rest is Biblical, that it is a necessary anti-dote to an idolatrously busy secular and church culture, and that this time of rest and quietness will result in ministers who are mightily empowered by God. Most importantly, we are convinced that this type of extraordinary prayer by the leaders of the Church will delight and gladden the heart of God. Scripture says it is a fearful thing to fall into God's hands when He is angry-how much more joyful, pleasant, and glorious it is to rest in His hands when He is delighted! In Christ, Jonathan and David “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps 37:4). Note: Your families are welcome to stay at Northfield either for the entire time or to visit. |
